Two interrelated world premieres that explore how memory and history shape identity. In search of the Holy Chop Suey, is a 15-minute solo created and performed by Ng, and Zhong Xin is a 40-minute trio created with Mairéad Filgate, Luke Garwood, and Irvin Chow.
Original music will be an integral part of both pieces. For the solo, sound designer Darren Copeland will create an interactive musical score, assembling sounds referencing Ng’s early years in postcolonial Singapore. The trio will feature composer Nick Storring’s score, drawn from his wide-ranging musical aesthetic.
